When I first began teaching the technology integration specialist at my school district sat down to have a quick briefing. He was very excited about Google Apps for Education, and passed that excitement and interest to me. There so many great ways these applications can improve the education and work environment, but I will stick the few that I have seen. First, our current technological status has made internet more common and accessible than computers. We all know that the levels of access to computers and mobile devices differ with each students economic status, but it has become very easy for people to access the internet in some way or another. A home that doesn't have a computer, will almost undoubtedly have at least one smartphone. If internet isn't provided at the home, a student can simply walk, ride a bike, or get mom or dad to bring them to a nearest location with free WiFi. In the case teachers can feel more comfortable about assigning work via the internet. With a constant connection to internet, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Classroom, and Drive allow students to take the work out of the classroom without needed much material at home. Beyond this students can collaborate and work on the material together. I have used these programs for individual and group assignments. I have seen students working on a Google Slides together peer tutoring, not just on the subject at hand, but learning the programs as well. All of this can be translated in to the work force as well. The only hindrance is making sure the people involved know how it works. But peer tutoring works at any age.
